I have been painting on scarves every day. I hope to have eight ready for Valentine's Day shoppers. The new scarves are part of my Window Box Series. They will be available at EW Poore's Art Center in Manchester, NH.

My First Scarf for 2010

I started this new scarf yesterday and I thought I would photograph it as I paint it. Geraniums is the first of eight scarves I plan to paint with different flowers. Next one will be either daffodils or poppies. Thank you to everyone who have bought scarves. Your wonderful support is greatly appreciated.

It is with a very, very sad heart that I have to tell you this devastating news.
On Thursday, December 10th my dearest, most wonderful friend Jennifer past away from an aneurysm. She was only 41 years old. She was bubbly, happy and truly funny. She was my mentor and encouraged me to go on. Every day when I walked into the store the first words out of my mouth were "Hi everyone, where's Jennifer?" She always had a smile and a great "Hi Jeanne" my day had begun and I was happy because she was happy. I truly loved her with all my heart. I see her beautiful face wherever I look. How can we go on but go on we must. She would be very angry with us if we stopped working. She is survived by her beautiful 8 year old daughter and her wonderful husband, her extraordinary parents and her dear brother. Jennifer loved her family so much. She loved her friends and her co workers and she loved life. Oh how we will miss her, everyday for the rest of our lives she will be with us in spirit.

I was teaching this morning when Jennifer came into the class to tell me someone had just bought 5 scarves. WOW... I came home and decided to order more silk and was so disappointed when they told me the 14 " x 72" was back ordered and wouldn't come in for another three weeks. Oh my I was seriously depressed. So I will do the 11"x 60" and I also ordered some 11" x 11" and one silk and wool blend to try. I think I will like trying this one. Expect some new scarves in the gallery by Tuesday or maybe even by Saturday.

Here is a little preview of my show of scarves in November at the EW Poore Art Gallery on Front St in Manchester, NH. I have to take a break painting my little gems and concentrate on the scarf show. Today I plan to finish this one and to almost finish a square one of fish also. I love painting fish and I love swimming. Maybe in another life I was a Mermaid. TaDa

The Dragon

The Dragon is a 22" x 22" Habotai Silk scarf. I love dragons and hope to do more of them. the next 22" x 22" scarf I am doing is Fish and Sunflowers, should be done this week. Look for it soon.

Seta Silk Scarf

This scarf was done with Setasilk paint. The nice thing about Setasilk is that you do not have to steam the scarf. You set the paint by ironing it and then letting it cure for 2 days. A whole lot easier. The paint does not flow the way the dye does so I usually make smaller shapes. My order came in from Dharma Trading Co. so I am all set to get to work.

Leaves on silk Crepe de chine

I finished this last night. It is different in that I left the background a very, very light gray. It is 8" x 55". by leaving the background light and not adding any color to it made the leaves look as if they are just floating. Love the look.

Again a silk satin scarf measuring about 11" x 50". Gorgeous rich colors make this scarf a winner. It will be part of my November show.

I loved doing this abstract design. Multi colored will make this scarf wonderful to wear with all different outfits. It measures about 11" x 50" inches. I say" about "because they are never exactly to the inch.

This scarf has a glow about it. It measures about 11" x 50" and gives the appearance of being an underwater scene. It also will be in the November show.

This 11' x 50" Habotai silk scarf is a favorite of mine. I started it with a light sketch using the red dye. I then waxed in some major shapes and continued painting, adding red, orange and yellow dye. This scarf will be in my November show at EW Poore Art Gallery

I love anything pertaining to the ocean especially shells. This scarf is one of the long ones about 9" x 53". The person who bought it had it framed and it is absolutely beautiful. I was thrilled.

These two scarves were done with vinegar, dyes and then microwaved. A very simple procedure and I would be very happy to share "how to"with everyone.

This silk scarf is a 22" square and the person who bought it had it framed with a double mat and wooden frame. It looked just great and she was very happy.

Two scarves I did at the very beginning

Sorry the fish are so blurry but you get the idea. These scarves are 22" x 22" and both are sold. The scarves I am doing for my next show in November are long and narrow about 10' x 53". I am steaming one right now. After it steams for one hour I will then have to wash the heck out of it and then iron it. It is a thrill to see them finished.

My very first scarf made in Colorado

I decided to create a blog for my silk scarves. It seems to me I have to much on my Studiojeanne216 blog so I am going to try to make both blogs more streamlined.
On one of my many trips to Colorado to visit my son and his wife, my daughter in law taught me how to paint on silk. I was in heaven and produced two scarves on that trip. She and I have been painting silk scarves ever since.
It took me awhile to decide on what to call my new little business. I finally after many names and different ways to sign I decided to use my Mother's name with mine. So Izolajeanne Painted Silks was born.
